Diamond P Bar Ranch
Our Story. Our Heritage. Generations in the Making.

At Diamond P Bar Ranch, our story is about more than horses—it's about family, Métis heritage, and a lifelong connection to the land. Founded by Heather and Marvin Parenteau, the ranch was built on a shared passion for horses, community, and preserving the traditions that have shaped our lives.
Our family's connection to horsemanship stretches back generations. Going back to 1945, Marvin's father, Octave Parenteau, carried on a rich tradition of chuckwagon racing, horse logging, wagon driving and training, horse trading, and developing skilled working horses. Those values, skills, and stories continue to guide us today.
Marvin has worked with horses for more than 60 years and spent over five years horse logging, alongside a lifetime of farming, training, and ranch work. Heather brings more than 45 years of experience in human services, helping people build meaningful connections and improve their well-being. Together, they combined their expertise to create Diamond P Bar Ranch.
As Métis people, we recognize the important role horses play in our culture—not only as working partners but also as part of ceremonies and traditions, including honoring Elders on their final journey. Through partnerships with organizations such as the North Peace Tribal Council, we have also supported equine-assisted healing programs that help individuals build confidence, connection, emotional regulation, and wellness through interactions with horses.
We are passionate about sharing our knowledge through horsemanship clinics, pack horse training, farrier education, wagon driving instruction, and authentic ranch experiences. Our unique Appaloosa, Quarter Horse, and Draft-cross horses are carefully bred for versatility, strength, and temperament.
The Diamond P Bar Ranch name reflects our family's legacy. The diamond represents a shape Marvin has always admired, the "P" stands for Parenteau, and the bar honors the family brand established by his father, Octave.
Above all, we see ourselves as stewards of the land, believing in living with it, not simply on it. Whether you're visiting to learn, heal, ride, or connect with our heritage, we hope you leave feeling like part of our extended family.
