Riding Policy

The safety of our guests, staff, and horses is our highest priority. All riders must comply with the following policies while participating in any riding activity.

Waiver & Rider Information

All riders must sign a liability waiver before participating. A parent or legal guardian must sign for riders under 19 years of age.

Accurate height, weight, and riding experience (novice, intermediate, or advanced) must be provided at booking for each rider. If booking for another person, please ensure they provide this information. Failure to provide accurate information may result in a rider being unable to participate, and refunds will not be issued.

Diamond P Bar Ranch reserves the right to restrict participation if, in our judgment, a safety concern exists for either the rider or the horse. For the health and welfare of our horses, height and weight restrictions are strictly enforced. The maximum rider weight limit is 300 lbs (115 kg). For rides exceeding 2 hours in duration, the maximum rider weight is 215 lbs. (98 kg).

Age Requirements

  • Trail rides: Minimum age 10 years.

  • Guide-led rides: Ages 4–9 years (in the pasture/yard).

Safety Equipment & Attire

  • Helmets are mandatory for riders under 18 and strongly recommended for all riders.

  • Riders 18+ wearing cowboy hats must secure them with a hat string.

  • Cowboy boots or footwear with a firm sole (no heavy tread) and heel are required.

  • Sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, and loose clothing are not permitted.

Horse Assignments

Horses are assigned based on rider size, experience, ability, and horse suitability. Riders may not change horses or tack without staff approval.

Rider Conduct

All riders must follow staff instructions, ride responsibly, remain with the group, and treat horses, staff, and guests with respect.

The following are prohibited:

  • Running, yelling, or startling horses.

  • Riding under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, drugs, or any impairing substance.

  • Mistreatment of horses.

  • Unauthorized feeding of horses.

  • Pets on the property.

  • Personal horse(s) unless it is otherwise posted on the Diamond P Bar Ranch event description or written prior consent by Marvin and Heather.

Late Arrivals & Weather

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled ride. Late arrivals may result in reduced ride time or cancellation without refund.

Rides may be modified, postponed, or cancelled due to weather, trail conditions, horse welfare, or other safety concerns.

Assumption of Risk

Horseback riding involves inherent risks, including falls, kicks, bites, unpredictable horse behavior, terrain, weather, and the actions of animals or other riders. By participating, riders acknowledge and accept these risks.

Diamond P Bar Ranch reserves the right to remove any participant without refund for unsafe, disruptive, or non-compliant behavior.

By booking and participating, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to this Riding Policy.
