Welcome to Diamond P Bar Ranch

Welcome to Diamond P Bar Ranch, where horses, heritage, and community come together in the heart of Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement.

Founded by Heather and Marvin Parenteau, the ranch is more than a working ranch—it is a place to experience authentic horsemanship, connect with nature, and be part of a living Métis cultural tradition rooted in generations of knowledge and care for the land.

Our story begins in 1945 with Marvin’s father, Octave Parenteau, whose life was dedicated to horse logging, chuckwagon racing, training, and ranch work. Today, Marvin carries forward more than 60 years of hands-on horsemanship, while Heather brings decades of experience in human services, helping shape a welcoming space focused on learning, wellness, and meaningful connection.

At Diamond P Bar Ranch, we proudly raise Colorado Ranger Appaloosa, Quarter Horse, and Draft-cross horses. Their lineage comes from the historic Colorado Ranger (Rangerbred) bloodline—known for intelligence, strength, versatility, and exceptional temperament. We also offer horses for sale for those looking for dependable, well-trained equine partners.

Visitors are invited to experience the ranch through guided trail rides, ranch tours, educational workshops, equine-assisted wellness and therapy programs, and guided photography sessions for artists and nature enthusiasts. Each experience is designed to support learning, healing, creativity, and a deeper connection to the land and animals.

Recently, co-owner Heather Parenteau joined President Dave Lamouche in a featured conversation about life on the ranch. In the episode, she shared the origins of Diamond P Bar Ranch, discussed current work in equine therapy and community programming, and spoke about the vision she and Marvin Parenteau have for the future—including expanding opportunities for education, wellness, and cultural connection. As Métis ranchers, we believe horses are not only working partners but also teachers and a vital part of our cultural identity. Through our programs, we aim to share the confidence, healing, and connection that horses make possible.

We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to grow as a place where people, horses, and community come together.

Thank you for being here. We welcome you to experience Diamond P Bar Ranch—where every visit becomes part of the story.
